Hyderabad: The entire India Congress Committee, which is in charge of Telangana, Manickam Tagore, said on Saturday that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was a “reliable ally” of “(Prime Minister Narendra) Modi- (Interior Minister Amit) Shah “for its support for the Information Law Amendment Bill (Rajya Sabha).
Tagore shared a news article with the headline ‘Government of India secures RTI Bill in Rajya Sabha, gets support from BJD, TRS and YSRCP’.
“Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a trusted ally of Modi-Shah; ATM team TRS + BJD + YSRCP stand with Modi-Shah in the dilution of the RTI law after the Lok Sabha election in 2019, now crocodile tears of Chandrasekar garu will not be trusted by those who are really against Modi-Shah “Do not oppose Adani-Ambani,” Tagore tweeted.
The Rajya Sabha on July 25, 2019 adopted the Law on Information (Amendments), 2019, after a heated debate and a fight against the opposition amid turbulent scenes. The government has rejected a strong demand to refer it to the select committee and to manage the support of parties outside the NDA corps.
About 117 members voted against the opposition motion, while 75 voted in favor. The YSRCP, the BJD and the TRS voted with the government.
On 10 July 2019, the Lok Sabha adopted the Information Law (Amendment) Bill, which enabled the central government to notify the term of office of the Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners.
The bill becomes law on August 1, 2019.
