Gandhi’s Life by Augmented Reality

There have been several experiments in the past to present Mahatma Gandhiji’s ideals, principles and message to the world. For the first time, the public was able to experience Gandhiji’s life through Augmented Reality (AR), a technology that enables an interactive version of a real environment, enhanced by perceptual information, leading to an experiential learning and understanding.

The Bengaluru-based technology enabler, 4point2 Technologies, paid tribute to the Father of the Nation on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi in a unique way in the Mahatma Gandhi Park on MG Road. Utilizing AR, the company has made an experience of Gandhiji, its message through music, speeches, images, documentaries, films and a 3D projection, all made possible by a smartphone.

The preview for the media was followed with the AR being opened to the general public through their smartphones. This is the first time that Gandhiji’s life has been presented by AR, which has bridged the gap between the past and the present.

The public, especially the children, were able to understand Gandhiji’s life and values through this experiential doctrine, which will be available until 10 October. All they have to do is download the ‘MarkAR’ app to their smartphones.
